Silken petals of a rose

She unwraps her silken petals
Revealing layers of velvet gold
She opens the colors of morning
Discarding leaves
discolored and old
She displays her perfection
Glistening in her satin bed
Her softness ~ like a pillow
As fallen tears slowly melt
Unfolding inner beauty
With such a sweet bouquet
She blossoms in the world
around her
Exposing life
in a beautiful way
Her petals dance
in the color of the breeze
Her head tilted slightly ~
to sway, and bend with ease
Her splendor opens up
to the humming bumblebee
Gracefully, hovering,
transparent wings set free
Feeding on the blossom
~ of this colorful floral dance
Such exquisite beauty,
Gods’ miracles ~ enhanced

As a flower

I watch the petal dance in the color of the breeze
Her head slightly tilted ~ swaying with ease
Her leaves swirl, and curl in calming motion
Such beauty reflected against the spanning ocean
Gracefully she bends in a dance against the sky
Echoing in rhythm, as she whispers goodbye
Transparent in her wisdom ~ God’s sculptures so pure
Each miracle embracing in a promise to lure
And like the blossoms that flourish in each beautiful bouquet
So your memory awakens me each gorgeous day
Every flower that blossoms is a memory of you
Each delicate rose dipped in your favorite hue
Your memory lives on in the heart of its’ fragrance
Each petal so sculptured ~ eternal and sacred

Every step I took ~ a silent prayer,
For those who suffer this cruel disease
Every dollar raised ~ a tear drop
In memory of survivors, and those deceased
Together, we can make a difference
Your support gave me the strength to endure
Teaching me that my pain is nothing in comparison
To those who suffer ~ oh so much more
Every step that I took ~ with purpose
To help prevent cancer attacking every 3 minutes
I proudly walked to make a difference
That’s why I am “in it, to end it”
I walked so that my beautiful granddaughter
Might never, never be
Part of a statistic or a measurement
Of those 3 minute facts of the disease
So my 39.3 miles meant so much more than just walking
It’s a statement ~ meaning “together we can overcome”
It means that blisters don’t need chemo
So we will walk on……and on ….and on
